4Ps or 7Ps? Share your story!

Great business ideas modelled to perfection will remain hidden unless you tell your story to the market.

Day 4 is all about marketing, with the first half of the workshop focussed upon the foundational components upon which all businesses build their marketing strategy.

The workshop decided to take a live case study and process it through the KiPiDi 1-page marketing canvas.

Nodumo’s dream

Nodumo’s dream of opening a coffee shop in Kasi took centre stage. Nodumo’s idea is to create a space where people could meet whether for business purposes, a chat with friends or simply take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in Kasi.

Working together, the workshop took Nodumo’s “big idea” and processed it first through the Lean Canvas and then through the 1-page marketing canvas.

Part of the KiPiDi process is to match your resources with your “big idea’. Clearly, Nodumo didn’t have the funding to open a “conventional coffee shop” from the get-go.

But that didn’t stop the class. Nodumo’ s idea was a vision of what could be. What is required is a starting point from which Nodumo could start her journey as the Queen of Coffee in Kasi.

Iterating backwards

The workshop used the 1-page marketing canvas to iterate backwards to a starting point that matched Nodumo’s skills and resources to a “coffee experience” that had the potential to succeed in Kasi, and specifically Green Village. Ideas flowed thick and fast. The discipline of the brainstorming techniques, Mind Mapping and the 5 Whys learned in earlier classes soon paid dividends.

Nodumo found her starting point and the class experienced the power of the many tools and new ways of thinking about business they had learned to date.

All in all, a successful class!
