Competition Day at Green Village

Performing in front of your peers can be stressful. No matter that for the last five weeks you’ve been honing your skills presenting assignments, group projects, and fielding questions from your classmates.

Nerves are nerves!

And so it was on Saturday, 17 September. The second cohort of KiPiDi Start Your Own Business workshop arrived primed and ready for Competition Day.

The brief – model your own business idea using the Lean Canvas. No slide decks allowed (we had load shedding). Participants were evaluated on their technical understanding of how to model their business idea using the Lean Canvas as well as the quality of the content that informed their analysis. In addition marks were awarded for presentation skills, how participants answered questions from the audience, as well “something extra” they may have brought to the presentation.

Ideas ranged from the traditional, what works in the “suburbs”, to online services and apps!

Congratulations to the winners

  • First Prize – Mpho Moanakwena
  • Second Prize – Malume Magalefa
  • Third Prize – Rhulani Miyambo

Marked out of a hundred, the winners were scored by those participating in the competition.

Congratulations to the Green Village – KiPiDi SYOB Cohort #2.

Only those who stayed the course with a minimum 80% attendance and participation in the competition graduate as KiPiDi Warriors.

Completer finishers to the last.

Lufhereng here we come!
