Green Village Flea Market
Building upon the success of the first Slovoville Flea Market held at the beginning of September, the KiPiDi Warriors brought their flea market to the Green Village Day Care centre on Saturday, 15 October.
Off to an early start, the first order of the day was to secure power for the site as the day care centre operates on solar power and batteries in the absence of an Eskom connection. The spirit of ubuntu is alive and well within the community surrounding the day care centre, as residents opened their homes to the warriors and their extension cords!
Once our resident DJ cranked up the music, like church bells calling the congregation, Mums and their children started to arrive. Jumping castles, waterslides, and paddling pools were the star attraction. Ice lollipops and ice cream cones with a splash of raspberry sauce provided the fuel required to show off on the trampoline.
But let’s not forget the Mums. It’s thirsty work keeping an eye on the little ones. Bring your own cooler box and chillout in the beer garden with Lindiwe serving up her spicy chicken wings. With no Dads in sight it was a girls afternoon filled with gossip.
A late afternoon hot dog for the kids topped up the energy levels for a final round on the jumping castle before home time and the late afternoon session kicks in for the adults.
