KiPiDi Seed Flea Market
On Saturday, 3 September the KiPiDi Warriors successfully bridged the gap between entrepreneurial intention and action. The KiPiDi Seed Flea Market came to life at the Slovoville Community Hall.
The first cohort of KiPiDi Warriors stumbled upon the idea to showcase the many small businesses in Slovoville by creating a platform upon which entrepreneurs in Slovoville could promote their businesses. The idea of a platform evolved into a flea market planned for the first day of spring. The community would be invited, young and old, to enjoy a fun filled day of music, children’s entertainment, food and refreshment.

“Seed” was added to the event’s name for it was the first KiPiDi workshop from which the seed of this idea was germinated.
Determined to put into practice the lessons of the first KiPiDi Start Your Own Business workshop, Lindiwe and her team of KiPiDi Warriors – Refilwe, Nomonde, Lungisani, Kagiso, Mpana, and Kgomotso turned the fantasy of ideas into reality.

They did it on their own. They used their own money to fund the event. They looked to no one but themselves to deliver the project.
They say the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The first cohort of KiPiDi Warriors demonstrated what is possible in the most marginalised of communities.
No more lekgotlas, no more indabas.
The ethos of KiPiDi is action, and we will bring it to Green Village.
