Go to Market and Spread the News
Great ideas are all well and good. Tested and evaluated, even better. But if no one knows about your business, that’s all it remains, a well kept secret only you know about!
Day 5 saw the introduction of the Marketing Canvas. A one page tool to help the entrepreneur design and build their marketing strategy.
As part of the KiPiDi SYOB workshop I encourage the group to think about developing a community based project to showcase the skills they have developed while benefiting the community they are part of.
KiPiDi Slovoville rose to the challenge!
Marketing Canvas
The workshop used the opportunity of the Marketing Canvas to build out the marketing plan of the community based group project they intend launching as a collective.
Thinking in terms of one pagers and models is now familiar territory. The Lean Canvas certainly laid the path, and without giving the game away, the KiPiDi Warriors were quick to identify their target market, segment it, as well as recognise who their competitors are.
As if the traditional 4 Ps were not enough, the workshop worked through all 7 of the Ps.
Promotional activities were identified as key, there being 8 weeks till launch day! Process soon entered the fray as the workshop worked backwards from launch day to what needed to be done first. Access to networks and contacts, resources cultivated by entrepreneurs, surfaced quickly as the group identified key role players in the community who could help further the cause.
All Eyez on You
Know it Practise it Do it – meetings were set up for the forthcoming week with a report back due on Day 5. Talk is cheap, action buys whiskey!
The leaders within the group are already emerging, but more importantly the group is cohering as a team. The only outcome that counts is to deliver on the group project!
