Prize Giving, Graduation, & Market Day

So, Graduation Day for the KiPiDi SYOB crew is always a big deal. These folks spent two whole months, every Saturday, diving deep into learning and pushing through challenges. Talk about dedication! They showed serious grit, determination, and that true entrepreneurial fire.

For the Mapetla SYOB V class of 2023, this day was the epic finale of their academic journey. It was a lively celebration of growth, learning, and proving doubters wrong. These guys really stepped up!

The KiPiDi SYOB program is like a ray of sunshine in our tough economy. It’s all about giving folks the tools to take charge of their own economic destiny. It’s about being self-reliant and embracing that entrepreneurial spirit. With the economy in a bit of a slump, being an entrepreneur isn’t just a choice anymore, it’s a lifeline. It’s how we survive and ultimately thrive.

Let’s talk about South Africa’s job scene. We’re kind of in this post-employment era, thanks to rapid changes in technology and the job market. Things like AI, robots, and automation are shaking things up. Plus, there’s been a bit of a let down from our political leaders in creating a business-friendly environment for sustainable growth. Long story short, we’re facing some seriously high unemployment rates. Not a great path, right?

But hold on, here comes the KiPiDi SYOB program with a bold message: Even though we might not have control over the big economic picture, we’ve got power over our own economic destiny. We can make opportunities happen. We can dream big and make things happen, no matter our circumstances.

And on Saturday, 9 September, the KiPiDi spirit was front and center. What a day!

The morning kicked off with the announcing the winners of the pitching contest held on Friday. 1st prize was awarded to Tebogo Radebe for his after school academic support programme for high school students, a close 2nd went to Matsidiso Monyane for her IV Therapy business, with 3rd place going to Bridget Mbatha and her discount clothing business.

Certificates were then presented to the graduates of the programme in recognition of their perseverance and staying the course over an intense eight weeks.

Graduation day would not be complete without the KiPiDi Market Day where past and present graduates are invited to show case their business to the community. All in all a successful day demonstrating what entrepreneurs in Kasi are capable when they put their minds to it.

Next up Protea Glen!
